In the past century, we’ve been more aware of our health, our food choices and our diet regimen, but we are sicker and unhealthier more than ever. What is the culprit? Is it because of sugar? Is it because of fat? No one really knows for sure.
But fat has been attacked and has been blamed for dozens of years because of it’s effect on cholesterol levels, namely low density lipoproteins, LDLs. High density lipoproteins on the other hand are the good fats that are responsible for cleaning up our arteries of clogs and deposits that can lead to minor Angina or worse mild to sever heart attacks.
With that being said, I’d like to share these 5 basic tips for low fat cooking. Every little gram of fat that is deposited in your body can contribute to the detriment of your heart’s health. Which is why in this article I’d like to share these five ways on how you could decrease dietary fat consumption on your body.
Let’s get started with it right away. Ready?
The first basic tip that I’d like to share it to use extra virgin olive oil when using a deep fryer. I know that it might be an expensive type of oil. Brand doesn’t matter as long as it’s extra virgin olive oil. Beware of just the virgin olive oil types because they are not as pure as the extra virgin olive oil.
When you use a healthier type of oil when cooking you decrease the chances of accumulating saturated fats in your body.
The second basic tip that I’d like to share with you is instead of deep frying your foods, you could still enjoy delicious and crispy fried meals by using an air fryer instead.
Air fryer uses convection and heat wave technology to cook and brown food without using too much oil. Usually, you’ll use 1 tbsp of oil max whenever you’re using an air fryer. I strongly recommend that you do research on which air fryer would best suite your needs.

The third tip that I’d like to share with you is to steam your foods instead of frying them. When you steam your foods, you allow it to retain much of it’s nutrients because steam doesn’t destroy a lot of the nutrients in your food. Although your foods might taste bland at first, you can still season it with salt and pepper to help make it a delicious meal.
The fourth tip that I’d like to share with you is to cook with a BBQ grill instead. A BBQ grill will help you cook it without oil, and the natural oil from the meat you’re cooking will allow it to cook well. The only consideration that I want you to take notice is that the charred parts (black) when grilling can be carcinogenic so don’t overdo grilling as well.
The fifth tip that I’d like to share is to use slow cookers. Slow cookers have been popularized and the most famous brand was the Crock-pot slow cooker. I forget the name of the inventor, but a slow cooker can be a great way for low fat meals. Because the process of cooking is slow and the temperature is also low, it breaks down your food really well. There’s no more need for oil and this is why slow cookers are great options for cooking healthier meals.
I’ve seen tons of slow cookers, but this is one of the best slow cookers today, visit this website to learn more.
And here’s a bonus tip: It is to choose healthier food choices. Instead of meat, why not try some portabello mushrooms. Instead of chicken why not try turkey? Instead of pork, why not try lamb? I know that they might be the best choices but they can still provide you with healthier food choices.
